Boracay Property Holdings, Inc. is planning to develop an airport in Carabao Island, Romblon that will service tourists going to Boracay Island.
“The airport will undoubtedly enhance the development of Romblon. It will also serve the purpose of having a bigger airport to Boracay Island,” Boracay Property Holdings owner Mariano Araneta said.
A tourism airport in Romblon is seen financially viable since Carabao Island has a long stretch of white sand and a flat topography suitable for aircraft landing.
At present, Caticlan Airport services only small aircraft of Southeast Asian Airlines, Air Philippines and Asian Spirit, while large aircraft flies to Kalibo, Aklan.
The flight from Manila takes between 35-60 minutes.
